Our new-look heatmaps set out the digital skills position of each UK region and industry sector.
They show the levels of essential digital capability in each sector and region and whether skills levels are improving or worsening.
How to read the heatmaps
The heatmaps show:
- Percentage of workers in each sector or region that can do all 20 Work tasks found in the Essential Digital Skills Framework1
- The comparative data point from 20242
- Whether the trend is improving or worsening
The heatmaps also indicate the number of Workforce Digital Skills Charter signatories for each sector and region and whether they have mobilised action (i.e. have a sector leadership team in place). These figures are accurate as of March 2026.
